Update from the hice…

Another eventful evening here on scenic Lake Nipissing. Thursday’s rain has been flash frozen and all the standing water is ice. Some more solid than others but enough to lock vehicles to the ice. Fishing has been reasonable by Lake Nippising standards and many a beverage and stories have been shared amongst the lads.

Our host came out to visit last night and put his truck through the ice into a pressure crack. An exciting event to be sure that broke up the monotony of rampid alcohol abuse. Garnet was

a trooper and exhibited no signs of impatience or foul language. As you all know from the tag line, “Chevies Run Deep”. Fortunately for Garnet. The truck was recoverable. A dozen stumbling drunks out in the howling wind and hypothesizing on the best plan to free the swallowed vehicle from Nipissing’ icy grip. Consensus decided that a tag team of two more Chevy pickups would sufficient to free the stuck truck. Alas, all the king’s horses could not tug it free. Garnet headed for home to gather some more tools to aid in the recovery and before we could down a couple more bevies he returned with the vaunted Jack All and a small sawmill worth of planks. We jacked up the front end with only minor drama and placed the planks beneath Garnets truck to form a bridge over the open water. The plan was to drive it off but that was not to be, Garnet could not get sufficient traction to get moving. With the added jolt from a tow strap affixed to one of the other Chevvies , Garnet was soon on his way. That freed us to continue our party, err fishing I mean and a good time was had by all.
