As the 2018 Ice Drinking adventure approaches it is clear that things change but some things remain the same. The list of participants has shrunk and for the first year since this adventure began, we are down to a single ice condo. We will miss our brethren who are not participating this year and hope that they will be able to join us again next season.

As important are the things that will not change. We wouldn’t dream of doing this annual pilgrimage to the frozen North with any other outfitter. For 21 years we have booked this adventure with South Shore Ice Condos and our hosts Cara Lee and Garnet have never failed to WOW us with their service and hospitality. The shenanigans will also not change and we will add to the legendary stories, some which can be told and some which can’t be told. The potato bazooka will continue to be a source of entertainment, even if Cara Lee doesn’t remember, and the meals will continue to be 5-Star caliber.

As for the fishing, the numbers and sizes change every year but early reports show that the fishing has been good and that the walleye fishery on Lake Nipissing is recovering nicely. What is known about the fishing is that some will fish hard, some will not and there is a good chance that some may not fish at all.  Some will drop a line down and set the rod in a holder and Brother AJ will move around the area and “fish grab” any and all rods that move.
